so today was the day we were scheduled to leave the bahamas, also the only day it rained, whereas the whole week was forecast for thrunderstorms, so thats a win for us! and it also didnt rain until we were aboard the plane, and then it poured down!

Before that however, we caught a taxi to the airport, and just a note about the Bahamas, they drive on the left hand side of the road, but some cars are left hand drive and some are right hand drive, its totally weird and trippy. And all the taxis are government run so all the drivers have to do is get a permit to drive and then they pretty much just use whatever car they have as their taxi, so our taxi on the way to the hilton was old and full of personal artefacts and stuff, and the one today was new and shiny and a lot cleaner, and the driver was very nice.

Yep so we got to airport and got asked if we had done our visa to reenter to USA and asked where we were staying that night.......we hadnt done any planning in a while so we had no plans for tonight....kinda awkward telling the lady that...so we told the security man later that we were staying in a hotel and flying to san diego in the morning..which was our plan. Somehow, we also managed to get an extra 3 months stamped in our passport so we're allowed to stay in america for another 3 months. we never actually did a 2nd visa though so huh.

When we got to miami airport we tried to be like the amazing race contestants and buy last minute tickets to san diego....except that the cheapest we could get them for was about $1130 each. NO WAY. However one of the ladies told us that ft lauderdale airport was serviced by southwest airlines who have cheaper flights so our best bet was to go there, and it was only a $3.50 train ride away so why not! So we jumped on the train and went to ft lauderdale, where the have free wifi unlike the bahamas and miami airport! another reason no planning had been done.

We managed to book a flight for the morning and by the time we started looked at hotels for the night it was 8:30 and a nights accommodation anywhere close was going to cost $80 plus transport. So we stuck it out and slept in the airport...well... tried to sleep, i think i got about 2 hours, tom got a few more.

Fun times. our first overnight airport experience.
