BAHAMAS! we're still here :) and its still sunny and theres still cruise ships coming into port. We went out for breakfast and had some bacon and eggs. yum yum.

We decided today that we would go and explore the island of Nassau a bit, and first off we went to Ardastra, 'the wildest place in town'. Its their version of a zoo, and it has some pretty cool animals. A lot of birds really, and also some goats and chickens :S They had some leopards which were actually active (gasp) unlike most big cats in zoos in australia. We saw a peacock courting and its quite intimidating with all its feathers out!

They also have world renowned famous pink flamingos, 'as seen in national geographic' as they like to say. They have trained them to march in unison and although we didnt see the marching show, they were pretty cool animals. I never realised they made so much noise either.

It was super hot out and we were getting hungry, so we headed back to the hotel, via Arawak Cay, which had some funky little places for lunch. So we stopped in at one, the busiest one, because lots of people obviously means its good, and had some food. We thought it was about time we tried the local food so we had some Conch fritters...now all we really knew was that conch had the texture and tenderness of calamari and that it was a mollusc. Wikipedia told us later that it was sea snails, but it was pretty tasty. and 6 fritters only cost $2.50, or 12 for $4 so this was the cheapest place around! They also had $3 cocktails for pretty much a 250ml cup, so i had one of those, the 'miami vice', which was pina colada and strawberry dauquri together and it was YUM.

After lunch we went back to the Hilton where we were staying, (just thought I'd mention it again, not to rub it in or anything :P ) and went straight to the beach for a swim! It was a good swim, the water was really nice, although with an extra dose of salt....

We decided we'd have a late dinner, because we were pretty tired and not hungry at 6, but when we went out at about 7.30, everything was closed! every restuarant and bar was closed. except mcdonalds, so thats what we had :( so unsatisfying.
