Kuala Lumpar is a fantastic city, we instantly liked it here - it had such a great vibe. The skyline is a mass of modern high rise buildings, including the amazing 88 storey Petronas Towers. The guest house we stayed in had an enchanting roof top garden, with a great view of the city, which looked more glamorous at night, we sat for hours up there. Although not an over crowded city there was a constant buzz of people day and night and even as an ultra modern city, Malaysia's fantastic cultural diversity still shone through.

We stayed in a very trendy area called the Golden Triangle which had loads of fancy restaurants and wine bars, all of which we couldn't afford and there were so many shopping malls, all inter-connected and very easy to get lost in, not the best place to be on a budget!! We did ventured to China Town though (think every major city has one)to check out the cheap market stalls & fake designer goods - much better! The city was pretty easy to navigate round and was linked by the sky train, much like London's DLR system - linking the business district with the rest of the city.

The main highlight for us was the Petronas Twin Towers, once the tallest buildings in the world, they stand at an impressive 452 metres off street level - I believe they are still the tallest twin buildings in the world. The design of this impressive building is based on "simple Islamic geometric forms of two interlocking squares creating a shape of eight pointed stars, that represent important Islamic principles of unity within unity, harmony, stability and rationality" - I quoted this from a leaflet! So not only are the towers a fantastic part of the KL skyline, they actually have a meaning to the Malaysian people.
