So we finally made it back to Bangkok in one piece - as it was 5.30am in the morning and we were pretty knackered we checked in to a slightly more expensive guest house, which we knew to be clean and quiet as we had stayed here before, knew where it was and just wanted to get our heads down. But we got woken up at 6.30am by someone drunk trying to get in to our room - then all went quiet until 9am when our neighbours decided to have a party in their room. When we got up about 3pm - we asked to be moved, any other time we would join the party but we were so tired and it was all about sleep!!
We spent Saturday night on the Khao San Road - it felt different being here this time, we were more confident and knew what to expect etc. We have learnt some more Thai and have a double act when banting with the market stall vendors. I say "Tow lie?" (How Much?) - Matt says "Lot dye my?" (lower price?) - we were told (by an English bloke who as emigrated out here) it would get us really good prices, not Thai prices but still we were happy when I got some flip flops for 130 baht and it was fun. It does get confusing as they reply in Thai - I think they are impressed when you try to speak there language, think they appreciate it.
Being more confident we decided to try some Thai food last night from a market vendor - we had bbq chicken and some veggy egg noodles which were lovely, you have to eat them on the road side but it was our cheapest meal yet. We spent a total of 125baht including drinks!! So if you eat like locals you have more money for beer woo hoo! We found a nice chill out bar and watched some movies - so nothing too exciting has happened but we have now recharged our batteries before we head to Chiang Mai. We met a couple too and had a really good chat with them and exchanged travelling experiences. So all in all a good few days in Bangkok - enjoyed more then last time.
We head off for Chiang Mai this evening and are getting a sleeper train all the way - this will take 12 hours, we expect this journey to be better then our last journey as they have beds and a/c.
