At 07.15 this morning we crossed the Arctic Circle. North of this latitude the sun doesn't set for two months in the summer and does not rise for two months in the winter. We were 'baptized' on board with ICE CUBES by King Neptune. As consolation we received some kind of shot of liquor. A small comfort when one has ice cubes in underwear. Especially at these temperatures. All five of us, however, were brave and underwent the ceremony. The captain also wielded a ladle of ice cubes along with King Neptune.
