This morning at 7:15 we crossed the Arctic Circle.  This means we were at the northern-most latitude at which the sun can be seen 24 hours a day, or where night will last all day in the winter.  We have gotten a good dose of darkness already.  It is possible to photograph a sunrise at 8:30 which is nice because then one doesn't have to get up too early.  However, this also means that it gets dark very early in the afternoon.  Below are some photos showing how quickly the light faded after Trondheim.

Thanks for the blog, photos, and updates. Enjoyed the photos and can't wait to see the photos of the northern lights I know you are going to see! The sun has been very ative with solar sun spots so that means norhern lights. To Rotraut a very Happy Birthday and I'll be thinking of you in Aruba. Say hi to Richard and family. We are going alone on this caribbean cruise. Enjoy and be safe.
