i woke up stiff today...our power was still not on this morning! luckily, the mountain air was nice and cool last night and this morning so we weren't hot!

i woke up late so i didn't have breakfast which was the typical european breakfast hard bread, butter or jam, yogurt and coffee, i passed for a energy bar...i'm still worn out from yesterday's "spiritual hike"- i'm still not feeling the spirit but i guess it'll come to me later on the trip!!!!

There's a small country-side festival that takes place every year on a hilltop overlooking Assisi in celebration of San Fortunato...i really have no idea the background story on this but the people were really looking forward to us coming to the event. so much that when we got off the bus they started clapping and cheering and taking pictures of us getting off the bus! i was like...wooo! i was still half-way asleep when this happened so i was totally off for the next few minutes!!

we all had something to do in the procession...i helped carry a banner with a picture of the Virgin and Child on it, i thought i would only hold it for a few minutes but i ended up having to hold the darn thing for the entire mass in the heat...after zoning out a few times the mass was finally over and we were on our way to lunch!!

the whole procession was beautiful but after yesterday and trudging around with a banner in front of me, i was really looking forward to this 3 course meal back in Upper Assisi!

we ate at this place called La Rocca Restaurant, they gave us a complete multi-course meal that was awesome!! i really have no idea what i ate but it was good!!!! true Italian cuisine...that's some good shit!!!! it tasted soo fresh, Olive Garden...ya right!

lucky the street procession was cancelled because of some mix-up in the dates...i hadn't really slept since i was here so i took a nice nap and joined up with the girls later!!

it rained a little when i woke up, i wanted to check out the city anyways so i just threw on some clothes and went out walking...the city is so small it only took like 30 seconds to find Jessie, Alma, Eileen,& Diana..at the bar, sharing a bottle of wine!!!! i joined them and they introduced me to Fransico (he owned a store that sold olive oil and wine that could be shipped to the states) really interesting guy...he spoke a few languages and was pretty familiar with both Italian and American politics!! the people you met sometimes....

so this was my first semi-drunk night in Italy!! i think i enjoyed watching Kali making acting like a dork more than anything!! that girl is hilariously stupid!!! (see pictures) we had soo much fun though, walking around drinking a bottle of wine in this park area by the guesthouse...these Italian teenagers came and started talking to us but we started walking away...but, they followed us to the guesthouse and waited for us outside the window for like 2 hours! so not my idea of the Italian romantic..these guys were retards...they kept saying "you like eh, dick?" (ha ha ha ha...)i guess it's no different than those pre-pubescent boys we went to high school with, getting turned on by some blond chick dancing on the balcony!!!

we have some churches to visit tomorrow...hopefully there's no more hills, though i doubt it!
