Where I stayed
The wind was belting pretty much the whole night and it was slightly cooler when we did get up so we decided to go and check out Heraklion and Knossos. We also took the opportunity to try and get the washing sorted once and for all. We drove the 20 mins or so into town, found a park and a Laundromat who was going to take care of all we just needed to pick it up later – perfect. We then walked around the bustling streets of the city. It isn't beautiful as such but there a some cool markets and coffee shops and the square with the Lion Fountain is pretty nice. From there we drove the 5kms to Knossos.
Knossos is now where the remains of what was The Knossos Palace, originally built in 1900 BC. It is ruins so you need to use your imagination to recreate what was there but it pretty impressive to see something unfathomably ancient.
It was then back to Heraklion but not before a souvlaki pit stop of course. As the washing wouldn’t be ready for a little while we walked all along the water and when we got back there was a family checking out Jabula. They are a lovely British family on their own adventure travelling Europe in a bus for 12 months and they were very excited for us, which is always nice to hear. So we had a good chat, exchanged details then picked up the washing and headed back to the hotel.
After dinner we found another sport to try – pool. Luckily for us there was a competition amongst the guests in the bar and after a few cocktails it was our turn. This time we teamed up together and we dominated and won!! It was nice chilling in the bar chatting to the other guests, drinking cocktails, not to mention watching Bayer Munich v Real Madrid champions league match in the background (BAY 2 – RM 1). Wasn’t until midnight that we hopped into bed.
Unfortunately the wind was absolutely howling and it was so loud. I really hope it is not going to continue tomorrow. But we will just see what the weather is doing then decide what we feel like doing – sigh, the joys of being on holidays.

Hi Luci, sounds like a good break. It must be lovely to have the warm weather after a UK winter. Its staring to turn cold here and I've just put on a pot of pumpkin soup!
