Our departure from London was frantic and rushed. Not what I had envisaged.

0445 arrived on Sunday 26 June and we were loaded up, waving goodbye to Petley Road and heading for Gatwick airport!

We flew into Venice but were using Padova (or Padua as some call it) for a base so caught the train over. I had been in such a rush when packing up that I forgot to look up the weather, so hadn't prepared myself for the rise in temperature! God was it hot. Very hot. Really hot. Hotter than a very hot thing! We were dripping by the time we walked the 5 min walk to the hotel. We dumped the bags and headed out to the town.

First impressions weren't good. We were staying near the station, which in most places isn't always the most beautiful, but we wandered round the old town which was lovely and quiet. No people or cars on Sundays here. We went into a few churches, walked around some of the old walls and took some pics. We were really exhausted after dinner so crashed around 10ish.

It still doesn't seem real. No more worries of work, just where will I sleep and what will I eat!

Reunion with Venice tomorrow.
