After delays in Montreal and then delays in Paris, we finally made it to Barcelona. Dave, Francis and Cade had arrived that morning and went exploring . They hooked up with us at the airport late afternoon and we took the 1.5 hours to Rosas.
Months ago when we decided that we would spend some time in Europe, we decided it would be fun and more economical to do a house swap. We listed the house in Florida. As pretty as Minnesota is, I can't say I saw a single inquiry for anyone looking to go there. A retired couple contacted me about having a 2 week exchange and sent me pictures of their place in Rosas. The place looked really cute but they never mentioned exactly where it was located. Looking on Google images, I found some cute pics of the town. I had really no expectations about the apartment other than a cute living room and dining area. Isn't it the best when something far exceeds your expectations.
The building has 2 apartments with a lovely American couple on top of ours. It's situated mid-hill with amazing views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees in the background. It's a 5 mins walk down to the beach and about 10-15 mins coming up steep hills. (Barb- did you read this? s-t-e-e-p hills, no need for any other leg workout ;) Rosas, is a sweet costal town with shops, restaurants, and (so far) fabulous weather.
We spent yesterday at the outdoors and covered markets, at the beach and my nephew Francis cooked up a very yummy Mediterranean meal. Today we went for a long walk in a National Natural Park and had great Paella on the beach. I can't say the pictures do this place justice.
Truly wish I could share this with all my friends and family.
Love,
Lu
