Drove 240 miles today carrying us from Utah through Arizona, past Las Vegas, Nevada, and into California............resting at the base of
Death Valley National Park. We are in the metropolis of Amargosa. Previously a town of 300.............now a town of "3". Anyone can stay in a Hilton........but how many can say that they stayed in the "hilton" of 85 years ago. This was once a "white glove" hotel along the Union Pacific railroad route. The Opera House still has performances 6 months out of the year..............featuring Marta Becket who is the "owner" of this fine establishment. She is also an artist and ballerina. She is also 85 years old.
