Well, we started off fine.  Left at 4:20am.  Made great time getting out of Louiaiana.  Drove through Dallas at noon (7 1/2 hours).  Avoided all traffic.  Lookin' good.  Lene was the pilot for the last three hours.  Stopped in to fill up with gas in Wichita Falls, Tx.  Last leg was 225 miles.  Expected to arrive in Amarilo at 5:30 pm.  My turn to drive............and then.........the car stalls.  To make a long story short, we finally arrived at the VW dealership at 4:00 pm with the tow truck.  Car...DOA.  Bad news is it won't be fixed until sometime next week after the parts arrive.  A faulty throttle body and harness.  Good news is we now have a red rental car.......a Saturn.  Just arrived in Amarilo at 10:15 pm.  NOT A GOOD START, but we are safe, and tomorrow is a new day.

Oh, my goodness!!!!! I'm laughing out loud since Charlene would react the same as I would (since we are related!) LOLOLOL So sorry about the car situation but there's always a rose among the thorns!! About the convertible, who knows, you may have gotten sunburned with YOUR car, then you'd really be miserable for the whole trip!! Ha!! Hope the next few days are GREAT!!

Get the bad stuff out of the way early. That way you'll remember the fun you had and the great things you saw, not the car issue. Also, more room for all the stuff Charlene will buy along the way. Safe travels.

Sorry to hear about your car trouble. Hope the rest of your trip will go smooth. I love hearing your updates so keep them coming. FFM is fine and so is Chad so don't worry. Have a great trip, and watch out for Bears.

Sorry about the car problem. You ought to have been driving a Toyota Prius like mine. Just kidding! Hope you have been luck henceforth. Texas is a tough and long state to drive through. Seems endless so the time in
Amarillo may be a good respite. Love ya, Louie

Anthony says, "Take it from one who's been there - Get out of Amarilo. Only more bad things can happen there."

Yvonne says, "Good move, Charlene; you can fit more in the "red car." I'm sure you're resourceful enough to find shopping somewhere along the way!!
LOVE the pics!

I thought only Neal and I had that kind of bad luck....................Just get out of Texas and the rest of trip will be smooth.

Too bad about the car, but at least you are safe. Have fun and don't let this put a damper on your trip.

So good to hear from you. Every journey has it's rough spots. Hope your car is fixed quickly. You are on your way to Colorado? Beautiful! Enjoy the mountains! You look great Charlene. I am on day 3 of my retreat here in Metairie Cenacle. Warm... but beautiful weather. God is good. I think of you every day often.... praying you God-speed and magnificent moments. What a journey, eh? Love, Kathy
