Where I stayed

It seems like eternity, but has it only been three days without hot water? Oh boy, does it feel good! I also had my first shave in three days. OK, no jokes please.

It feels so good to relax in an air conditioned room. It has been hot and humid since I got here, and it seems like it is getting worse. 100F seems like the norm. Kas is a small town from the little I have seen from the bus, and it is too hot to go explore. We are going out to dinner at 8:00 PM, so I will see more of it. The hotel is quite nice, just off the main drag and about a mile from the harbor. There is a mosque close by and I was just awaken from my nap by loudspeaker to the call to prayer.

One thing I noticed is the portions are smaller here, but bread is ever present and in huge amounts, and dips and spreads are such a variety, from hummus to what I would consider vegetable stew and then there was the poppy seeds. The food is western style and the menu is like at any restaurant at home. I can't find anything that shouts Turkey. Coke comes in a smaller bottle, but Efes, the most popular beer here, is larger, and quite good. Ayran, a salty watery yogurt local drink is as popular here as lemonade at home. I'll try anything once!

WiFi is available everywhere, but slow. To upload photos takes minutes each, and I get timed out for inactivity when I try to upload a few all at once. I will only update the most interesting from now on. When I get home, I will post all then.
