We went out for breakfast at Scarborough Beach.  While Helen did her shopping, I first of all topped up my phone card and then took a walk to the beach where I saw some beginner surfers and boarders.  Lovely hot day, blue, blue sky and sea with very white sand behind.

In the afternoon we went down to Rockingham where Helen was going to a wedding and I took another walk along the beach to enjoy the afternoon and sail boats.  Also had a most magnificent meal at the Sunset Café/Bistro where I also bought her a birthday gift of a gift certificate.

Later that evening we went out to a concert by Pascal and Monsieur Camembert at the Quarry.  We took a picnic dinner of cheese plates, meat plates, dips and a bottle of 3 Vines white wine.  All in all it was a lovely evening.  The woman singer had very good rapport with her audience, sort of in the sultry French bar singer way and what to say about Monsignor Camembert, the Gypsy/ Klesmer band from, I think, Sydney. http://members.tripod.com/~mcamembert/ .

They are quite indescribable.   All in wild and crazy shirts and playing a variety of instruments with wild abandon.  Generally speaking one plays sax, flute, clarinet and sings, another plays guitar and singe, one plays percussion, another plays bass and sings, one is on accordion and the other plays lead guitar but in a very campy sort of new agy jazzy way.  I loved it!  The sort of thing that will probably wind up at some point at the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival.
