In addition to the usual things, I went in to see my cousin's doctor to get a scrip for malaria pills as I am going into Kruger National Park where I would need them. We were going to go to Kirstenbosch to see flowers but her heart problem prevents her from doing a lot of climbing so she was going to sit and wait for me - not a lot of fun for her. We decided to go out to Butterfly World where we could see all kinds of exotic butterflies and spider monkeys as well as visit a petting farmyard. We opted to do this.
Apparently this may be one of the routes Mike will take me so we did not stop a lot for me to take photos. I have found this in Africa so far, that my hosts do not stop a lot. They point out the most amazing things and then just move along without stopping. And the spring flowers along the roadsides were quite gorgeous. Grrr. Anyway, I hope I do have a chance on Sunday to do that.
Well, we did not actually get to the butterflies and monkeys - we stayed at the petting farm longer. A goat had just had a baby and I took lots of shots of baby goats, pregnant moms, a large ram, a couple of very strange chickens, birds (swallows, geese), Arum lilies in a field, a white cockatoo named Monty, I think and other African farm animals.
We got back and were able to do a bit of a shop for dinner. One of my cousin's sons came over and we had some pork covered in bacon as well as a stir fry of broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini and sweet potato. And Strawberries and cream for desert. Yummy!
We were up until about midnight as he is fascinated in the family tree I brought with me. He is a very nice fellow, a lawyer in the Municipal law field. Reminds me somewhat of other of my cousins. Worried, as all are, about the type of government they have now and may have in the future. Was able to get some nice shots of him and his Mom.
