We reached Kearney, Nebraska about 8:30 central time tonight......I really have not been sure of the correct time, day or date for almost a month now........the beauty of vacation!!! It will be a little hard getting back to the real world( we have been getting introduced to the cold and snowy weather today) but we are on the last leg of what has been an AWSOME Journey with Garmin , Harley and each other!!!!!!!!We have had such fun all along the way!!!!!!!!!Tom has driven EVERY SINGLE mile of our 5,000+ mile journey and we are so very thankful for safe travel through 12 states and for all the wonderful experiences we've had with the bonus of time with family and friends along the way. We count ourselves very blessed!
The start of our day was absolutely beautiful scenery again through the Rockie Mountains! We traveled through some tunnels, and some were quite long. We experienced a lot of snow and even a snow whirlwind for a brief time near Vail. There were many sking on the slopes and some very pretty little towns along the road. They had quite a bit of snow in areas and it is always so pretty to see that Colorado snow fall just piled up on the roof tops and fences and rocky ledges. Tom had a very hard drive for awhile through the mountains with the snow and curves etc. We logged 595 miles today and lost an hour!
As we left the gorgeous scenery we traveled in very high winds for quite awhile, but no more snow......
We were glad we had saved one more really good book tape(Thanks Micah) for this part of the trip that we knew would not be so much to see. It is called Dark Moon by John Sanders, and we should have just enough of it left to get us home tomorrow.
A HIGHLIGHT of our trip through Nebraska was our stop at Paxton....we had to stop as usual at Ole's Big Game Restaurant. We knew it would be a good photo opportunity for Harley as he has never seen a giraffe, elephant, polar bear, buffalo black bear and allllllllllll the MANY other animals there!! We made it our dinner stop as it was only about 2 hours from Kearney
We have about 320 miles left until we are back to home sweet home.
Thanks for a great trip Tom...I have loved our journey together and look forward to MANY more!
