After one final night of noraebang in Seoul, I headed to Fukuoka to begin my week long trek through Japan. We arrived really early Friday morning, and immediately headed to Hiroshima to start our sightseeing.

After having our first Japanese lunch- okonomiyaki- our first stop was the National Peace Memorial Hall for the atomic bomb victims. We explored Hiroshima for a bit, had some teppanyaki, then hit the hostel for some rest. After a long day of traveling and sightseeing in a new foreign place, I think most of us missed Korea; with the new language and the yen, life had just gotten confusing all over again!

Saturday we took the ferry to Miyajima Island. We took an aerial tram to check out the Itsukushima shrine (shinto shrine). We spent a good part of the day there, exploring the island and hiking around to see the various areas of the shrine (and sweating like crazy in the humid heat). Later that night, we headed off to Kyoto, where we'd be spending the next day. If you haven't noticed, it seems like our trip to Japan has mostly been traveling around on various trains, buses, and ferries, but we're trying to pack in as much as we can in just one week!

up next: Kyoto, Osaka, Fuji
