We got to Singapore by about 6:00pm and got our bags off with no problems. We'd hoped to get a minibus to our hotel as this was cheaper than a taxi but unfortunatley there was some sort of conference on and they were all booked so we had to get a taxi however luckily for us we started talking to acouple in front of us who were staying at the hotel next door to ours so we decided to share which was a result as it only ended up costing us 10 Singapore dollars (about £3). We arrived at the Pan Pacific and oh my god this was a very fancy hotel, we checked in and they upgraded us from a standard room to a panormaic room on Floor 33 which meant that we had to use the glass lifts on the outside of the building! These were pretty scarey to begin with and made your ears pop but after a few go's I was quite happy although anyone who was afraid of heights would've had a nightmare. Got to our room which was lovely with complimentary slippers, dresing gowns and loads of lovely smellies and got changed for dinner. Our hotel was connected to the Marina Square Shopping Centre so we went and had a mooch around the shops before finding a Thai restaurant for our tea, this was lovely and extremely cheap. We were a bit tired after this so went back to our room where Loz managed to find some footie on the telly and I had a bath...heaven.
Next morning we went down for breakfast and oh my lord this was the best buffet ever, they had everything, all the normal stuff plus noodles and dim sum, Loz was overjoyed and must have gone up about 5 times (I'm not kidding) we finally rolled out and headed off to the SunTec Mall (which again was attached to our hotel) and bought a 48 hour City Pass which gave us unlimited travel on the tour buses, a trip on Ducktours(an amphibious bus) a ride in the DHL baloon and a boat trip. This was excellent value for money and the first thing was the ducktour which was really fun, our guide was Roy the Boy who spoke english very well and was very informative as well as funny. After this we did the full circuit of both tour buses just to get a feel of the city before heading back to the hotel as I had a massage booked whilst Loz went to the gym. After this we changed and walked to Raffles where we both had a Singapore Sling at the long bar and ate monkey nuts, this was great but I still preferred our hotel. In the evening we went to Tony Romas and had ribs just to remind us of Florida!
Next day we had breakfast and checked out, the hotel held onto our bags as our flight wasn't until midnight and we headed off to the tour bus again. Our first stop was the DHL Baloon which is a big air balloon tethered to the ground and goes up about 150 meters. This was really good but it got a bit blowy at the top and I felt a bit squeemish. After this we went on our boat ride which I really hated as it smelt and made me feel even more sick although Loz enjoyed it. We had a walk along the river and had some lunch whilst people watching. We just mooched about shopping and reading back at the hotel before getting our taxi to the airport. We were booked on the Quantas flight but they didn't have 2 seats together so they put us on the slightly earlier BA flight which was a bit rubbish as we had the middle seats in a row of 4 so we had to bother people all flight every time we went to the loo. The flight was uneventful and we managed to get a bit of sleep before landing in heathrow and then getting our flight up to Edinburgh.
Well that's it we're done, we had a great time and although we're sad that it's over we're really happy that we did it in the first place. Thanks to everyone for your comments along the way it made us feel closer to home and I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as we enjoyed writing it.
