No, I have not been busted for riding too fast!

I was invited to to be a judge for two days at an English Speaking Competion. Colleges from around the Province, 19 in total, gathered for two days to perform a 3-5 minute MC presentation about their own home town and on day two they became newscasters for the day! reading topical items in english. The Three judges were invited to evaluate the performances against set criteria and offer comments and suggestions at various intervals.

What a blast! The staff treated us very well and kept us fed and watered. On Day two they sprung a surprise on me though and asked me to read the news of one of the contestants with no preparation! That was a heartpounding few minutes!! It got better though as they had a delay and so to fill it they invited me again to do the MC gig and I had 1 minute to prepare a presentation on West Yorkshire! Now that was fun! telling them about betty's tea rooms and the cow and calf rocks! Because they are not used to seeing black skin they even asked me to explain it! (never have that question at a competion in England would you? and certainly not from a director of a college!!) So I explained that I was from a unique part of England that was closer to the sun. To my amazment, many of the people on the room (about 100) got the joke and laughed!

A great couple of days were had by all and the pay was off the scales so I am looking forward to enjoying a prosperous Christmas!

Hope you like the pic.
