As I had been to France before I was a little bit excited about going to a new country today. It was an early start as always on travelling days, but everyone seemed happy enough. Another value-added extra today as we stopped at the Site Pont du Gard - a Roman aqueduct. Just a quick stop to get some piccies and pee if we needed to really as we were heading up the road for lunch.

Lunch was kinda cool actually. Big Rob and I bought ourselves a French stick, salami, brie cheese and other goodies and sat in the park eating our lunch - boy did we feel kinda French!!

We stopped at the Sagrada Familia (church designed by Gaudi) for photos on our way into Barcelona to our hotel. Very nice hotel I thought. We had an included dinner that night which was nice enough. After dinner we headed into central Barcelona for a walking tour. I have to agree with our guide in saying that the walking tour is much better by night - a lot more haunting considering the history of the city. I didn't have my camera with me as we were heading to a few bars later on and I really didn't fancy losing my camera.

Our first bar was the 'Fairy Bar' - a cute little bar that our tour manager described as a fairy vomiting all over it as it was covered in fairy lights and greenery. Bring on the free-pour!! This was how it was done in Ios, no shot measures, just whatever goes really!! Only needed a few JD's to get me to my happy place! We also met some Italian guys there who were absolutely awesome people. They ended up hanging out with the Contiki group all night which was cool. It's always nice to meet people who like to party as much as us Aussies!!

We went to another club which was fun because we were all up dancing, but there were a lot of sleezy Spaniards - it's like they know that there's going to be lotsa foreigners and play on that. We just had a great time dancing in our group. One thing I will say about this club was that it had the most rank, foul, grossest, disgusting toilets I've ever seen in my life!!!

The next day we did a little bit of sightseeing around Barcelona. We headed up to the site of the 1992 Olympic Games - which was kinda special for me as my auntie Sue had been at that games with the Aussie team. After that we headed down into the centre of Barcelona for a leather, lladro (prounounced yadro) and pearl demonstration - it was unbelievable!! (Only a joke my fellow Contiki peeps will understand I'm sure)

Yes, Barcelona does have museums and all that, but the weather was absolutely beautiful. Meg and myself decided to blow off the museums (and because neither of us had our maps and we had lost everyone else) and just stroll down the main drag - La Ramblas. We sat at an outdoor cafe, ate Paella and Tapas, then strolled back up, sat in the main square for a halfa, then metro-ed it home.

Very quiet evening. Had a nap in the bath, kebab (actually the biggest bloody kebab I've ever had) for dinner, then to bed for another early start to go back into France!

Enjoy some of the piccies!!
