Where I stayed
Having gone through security I collected my suitcase, which had arrived with me (hooray!) and was about 4th off the conveyor belt, and went through customs into the main hall. Suddenly I was reminded that I was in a totally alien world to me, and I could not read any of the signs at all. I knew that there was a bus that would take me to my hotel, but where that was going from I had no idea. I headed over to an information desk, and after much difficultly, ascertained that I needed to go outside to the ticket office and they would tell me which stop to get. Excellent.
I stepped outside. OMG - it was FREEZING! I mean, take your breath away freezing. I quickly went back inside and unpacked my scarf, gloves and hat before going back out and finding the ticket office. I managed to get my bus ticket at 14,000Wan and was told the next bus was 3pm so I was better waiting inside, which I did. When the bus arrived, I jumped on board with about 6 other people going to my hotel - the Millennium Seoul Hilton - and the Grand Hyatt.
The journey to the hotel took just over an hour from Incheon. I was amazed what a huge, built-up city Seoul was. I am not sure quite what I was expecting, but somehow this wasn't quite it. It also looked like it was going to be really hard to navigate around, but then I was a bit tired so perhaps it would look better in the morning. We arrived at my hotel and I got off the bus and went through to check in. Check in was quick and the staff were really friendly. I went up to my room on the 12th floor - it was a corner room with a view of Namsan and the Seoul Tower. I made a note to climb up there at some point. I was too tired to go out, so unpacked a few bits and decided to have an explore of the hotel. The hotel is huge, with its own casino, restaurants and shops, so I was able to spend some time having a wander. I returned to my room and planned out my day tomorrow, seeing what I had time to visit inbetween meetings. I then just curled up in bed and fell asleep - flying can be a pretty tiring business...
