Field Trip and Farewell Party

Thursday, July 28, 2011

So today our field trip was changed from Nami (spelled wrong I'm sure) Island to a museum and a botanical garden. It was definitely not as much fun as the Island would have been, but it worked.

The museum was a bunch of stuff that I had seen before at the National Museum so there wasn't much to see. But we did start coloring pictures at this table they had set up for kids! It was fun. Unfortunately, we didn't get started until it was too late and we had to leave without finishing our pictures. I was very sad.

Then we went to a botanical garden where we made little key chains or cell phone charms. Then we went in and watched a 4-D movie. I had no idea what it was saying as it was all in Korean... I actually almost fell asleep. Then we walked around and saw several different animals displayed. After that, it was time to head out and go to lunch. At lunch we ate Duk Kalbi. It was very good.

After lunch we came back to the university and some of us decided to go get some ice cream. On the way there we saw where a mud slide had occurred between the university and the university hospital. On the way to the ice cream shop, we saw where the ground had shifted and parts of the sidewalk had actually collapsed. It is crazy!

After ice cream we came back to the dorm and I started to pack. After I did some packing, I decided to try and take a small nap. Then, I got up and started to get ready for the farewell party that we had. Once we were ready, we headed out to the buses.

We went to a hotel where it was set up very nicely. It was a buffet of so many different types of food, it was crazy. The president and vice president of the school were there as well as faculty. It was a very nice time. At the end, we played some songs and people danced around. I loved the fact that, once again, our Korean professors came out and danced with us.

Then we headed back to the dorm. Once there we all went to our rooms for a bit and then met up again to go out together one last time. It was a lot of fun but also very sad. Several of us started crying because none of us want to leave...

Then we walked back to the dorm. It is very sad that tonight is our last night together. I have made a lot of great friends and had a lot of fun memories. I will never forget this experience. I would encourage anyone who wants to study abroad to do it at HIS University - it is a wonderful college and the people you will meet, the memories you will make, are priceless.

Signing off for now... good-bye Chuncheon! I will miss you!
