Hello,

Last time I wrote I think I was generally disgruntled in Kratie! Lol, well I have to say my Cambodia trip has not been getting to much more successful! So I went to Ban Lung in order to do some trekking with the national park rangers. I met some lovely people on the bus, and we ended in a pretty nice hotel for cheep. Ban lung is an dirty dusty town, with a good market that sells great fruit! As in most places in Cambodia, we get off the bus and the tuk tuk drivers faces light up at the sight of us, and we get poached by a tour guide trying to sell us lame days out that with half a brain you can do yourself. I think he was disappointed with my reaction to him being uber matey and trying to sell me stuff! And finally he left me alone.

I arrived in the afternoon to go to the national park office and find it closed an old man in an office opposite told me to come back the next day. So the next day I rent a motorbike and go back to the office… still no one there, I try calling but no answer.. So I take off on the bike to find the lake from apocalypse now, I must have driven for around 6 hours thru all sorts of villages and dirt roads, I was orange by the end of the day. I had a map, but it was no good, and everyone that I asked pointed me in a different direction. It was very frustrating, eventually I gave up… I went back to the ranger office to find no one had been there that day either.

That night I saw the most spectacular lightning storm ever from the balcony of the hotel, it was awesome!

I popped down to another trekking place in town run by a couple of Dutch guys, now I had noticed a distinct lack of tourists in the town, but did not realise how few there where. I tried to book some trekking with them, to be told they need at least 3 people on a trek and there is no one in town atm that want to go trekking. I leave my number but get no calls…fail

So the next day I try the rangers again, they were not there. Fuk it, said I, and am now currently back in Phnom Phen as I gave up! It would have cost me 350 squid for a 7 day trek with them anyways as there was nobody else in the town up for trekking anyways.

All in all, big fail! I did see some Dolphins in the North East, but jungle adventures and hornbills where not meant to be obviously.

I get to Phnom Phen last night, and book back into Rorys guesthouse and decide to go to the night market. It was really cool. I ended up meeting a Nigerian football player/ teacher/ amateur film maker at a food stand and going to the new fun fair on his bike, some bars then clubbing! It was really fun, the clubs are full of tiny prossys and shit music, then got back to my hotel/bar for 12 (the dude I was with had work in the morning) to end up having a free lock in till 4 am with the American dude that owns the bar. It was really fun, and one of the messiest nights ive had in ages, think id almost forgot what a proper hangover was. It was really nice to chat, as in Cambodia I have not actually met that many people that speak good English, so it really good to have a really good chat with someone for hours! Think I was actually beginning to go  a bit crazy in the North East with no one to talk to for a few days.

All in all Cambodia has been interesting, but im going to go back to Thailand tomorrow, im really missing the sea and believe after over 3 months its time to hit a beach! Ive got 4 weeks till Graham turns up and I plan to spend it Scuba diving and climbing in Thailand's South Islands. Im so excited about being near the sea. Tomorrow I arrive in Bangkok, I plan to spend just one night there and then get down to Koh Lanta for some amazing dive sites, and maybe a liveaboard dive ship for a week.

Good bye Cambodia!

Big love to all at home, next time I write I should be on a beachy paradise… lets hope my next missions are not a failure.. x x x
