Hello,

So last time I wrote was Tuesday the 6th and I was going to go to Soppong the next day…. So it actually took me till Friday to get out of Chiang Mai! I think I was exhausted after non-stop travelling and seeing stuff. Ive kinda developed a more chilled attitude to travelling now, and im not going so fast..

So I stayed in Chiang Mai till Friday, im not to sure what I was doing but I did a lot of partying.. ! Just seemed to work out like that! So on Friday myself and Sara, my American Friend went to Pai for the weekend.. We took the funniest bus ride ever. It cost us 72 Baht, which is like 1.50 for a bus that was supposed to take 4 hours but ended up taking closer to 6! It was the most rickety bus ever. At over 30 years old it was special! The seat did not fit anyone, we spent hours with our knees squished so much ive got bruises, the air con was some spinning fans tied to the roof, then it was full and more and more people kept getting on and squishing into peoples laps and sitting in the aisles.. All we needed was some chickens and it would have been perfect, the bus laboured up the hills being overtaken by bicycles and moped the whole way.. it was great, but I think ill spend the extra pound next time and take the minibus!

So we arrived in Pai to find our hotel was lovely, we stopped there and then went out for evening! Messy times! They do these things out here called buckets, which is literally a bucket full of booze topped with Thai red bull.. fun fun..

We ended up having a lock in at 12 at one bar and 4 of us drunk with the owners till around 3am, it was lovely, ended up making food in the kitchen and just chatting till then. Then myself and Sara went to a place called the Bamboo bar which is over the other side of the bridge in Pai, so thru some loophole can stay open till 6am. We had an awesome time and met some cool people! And some idiots but cant be assed to write about that!

The next day armed with terrible hangovers, I taught Sara to ride a moped and we took to the hills. Pai has some hot springs so we went there and chilled/cooked in the hot water for the day it was pretty cool. There is one spring that is 80degrees and you can boil eggs in. We met a German girl there and ended up going for drinks later with her. In Pai

I also discovered this amazing food called Mango Sticky Rice, its totally incredible J

It was really nice to travel with someone for a couple of days, but then Sara had to go back on Sunday to carry on with her course and so went back to Soppong to Cave Lodge as I really like it here.

On the Monday I went with the guys who run the place on a hike to a cave entrance to do some photography. The guy who runs cave Lodge is a very interesting character and has had a fascinating life. Including, smuggling heroin, working with the Government on Caves mapping and travelling the world! But now he is really into photography so we geeked out with our cameras. It was the most amazing walk up a stream climbing thru spectacular scenery with rocky mountains and forest, over rocks we climbed to get to the cave entrance, we stopped for lunch and cooked steak and black sticky rice over an open fire, it was really special J That eve I just chilled at the Lodge with my slightly odd room mate, who now I know her a bit better is okish, but you can tell why some people travel for 20 years! The ones ive met are a bit weird and spiky and would not fit into a normal home! Also although we talk the same language, ive never had so much weird mis understanding with anyone! Strange lady!

Anyways, since then ive spent my days trekking down the rivers, today I climbed a mountain called Big Nob! It was fun.. And ive  just been chilling out really and meeting interesting people.

I think im getting more chilled out the further on I go with my travels. Although I was never a stresful person before im feeling even more relaxed now (Maybe ill start living backwards)! To have no worries is really nice and id like to try and make my life back home reflect that aswell. I know things back home are always more full on, but hopefully ill bring back an even more super chilled attitude to stuff. I know travelling is pure indulgence just to live for pleasure  and interesting adventures, but maybe real life can be like that…

I have been doing a lot of people evaluation tho.. Which is probably not a good thing to do; to try and figure out different things about people but its very interesting. Back home you would never meet so many different people all on their own adventures all for so many different reasons. Whenever you meet other travellers the conversation always goes the same to begin with.. Where are you from? Where have you been? Where are you going? For how long? Why are you travelling? Its always the last one that is the most interesting tho..

Ive met people travelling for 3 weeks up to 20 years! Its nuts! Im not to sure about the ones traveling for so long. The ones ive met seem a bit odd and the relationships you make with them are a bit struggled sometimes. I guess if you just meet people for 2 days a time for that amount of time then you will probably end up not being bothered with people and get bored of the same stuff each time. Or maybe im just not that interesting....

For me I love it, its great meeting so many people especially the interesting querky ones. Some people have the same reason as me, that they have just always wanted to do it for exploration and to see some of the cool stuff ive read about over the years, and some think they could maybe figure out what their priorities are thru it, some people are running away, quite a few have had shit experiences back home like divorce and they are using it re discover themselves, some are just unsettled wherever they go and don't seem to make home anywhere, and then there are the 18 yr old  gap year kids that are having fun and generally getting twatted and sleeping with as many people as possible.. I think you could write a very good book on travellers and their reasons and crazy experiences. Its very interesting.

Right well that’s it from me, im off to laos on Sunday so don’t know what my internet will be next.

Big love to all at home
