So after a hell of a long drive we arrived in Santa Cruz for our long 4th of July weekend.  Independance day is a big deal over here and there seem to be celebrations starting all over.  Met up with Chris and headed back to his apartment to meet his 2 mates who are also staying for the weekend.  After a mini rest we headed straight out to some bars and stayed out drinking for a good few hours, great fun and we went to a club that was doing a live hip hop rap MC show just like '8 Mile'.  Very exciting!!  Really good fun and loved watching the rappers at work, they seemed very good.....
Next day and its a lot colder here than Vegas so quiet morning waiting for the sun to come out ready for the festivities later.  Headed down to the Boardwalk and all the funfair rides, did a couple and looked at the hundreds of people relaxing on the beach enjoying their independance day! Headed back to the apartment to start the BBQ and were joined by 2 more mates we had met on our visit to San Francisco.  The DVD player went on  playing - what else but independance day - and we enjoyed some yummy BBQ and a few drinks before we headed down to the seafront to watch the fireworks.  Enjoyed a few impromptu displays from the beach before heading back to the boardwalk to ride some large rides and drink a bit more:)
Went to a bar that was run by a friend of Chris and that was an interesting experiancedue to the 'clientele' !!  Consumed more vodka and played dice with the Babcock brothers then back to the interesting sleeping arrangements of 5 blokes and me on the floor in the living room - some girls would be envious......
Next day and 2 mates headed off and the rest of us headed off to a local golf course to pay 'disc golf' which is basically mini golf played with frisbys across giant expanses of woodland.  Unsurprisingly I was very bad at it, Al however did very well though he did end up a bit hot and bothered at the end!  Playing the holes took a while and after that it was time to grab some dinner at a local brewery then more grand theft auto in HD (not sure Im a fan....) after a trip to the local kareoke bar to see Chris do his thing it was time for bed as tomorrow its a 6hr drive back down to LA - thank god for the Sat Nav........
