Well its 5am and we are zombiishly getting out of bed making last minute additions to the I-Pod (DSLR Camera tutorials :D ) and getting dressed and ready to go, as we wanted to be early instead of late for at least one event, and a somewhat important one at that. We decided to leave home on the far north side of Brisbane at 6am to get to our awaiting flight from the Coolangatta airport on the Gold Coast. We remarkably arrived in a little over 1 and a half hours and started our 3 hour wait in a little cafe whilst waiting for Morgans-san (Mr Morgans) to arrive. 8 o'clock came and Morgans-san was getting closer so we decided to line up and begin the check in procedure which was quite odd as we were joined by two ladies pushing along a massive white box which later turned out to be a double bass being taken back home to Japan. Morgan arrived while we were in the cue and we checked in our luggage then headed back out to the cafe to wait out the remaining hour till we were going to the departure lounge.
Heading through the security checkpoint before the departure lounge I took out my laptop and aerosols and proceeded to walk through the looming gate of beep, just to find it didn't like me that much and it started to beep like crazy, after removing my new Colorado shoes which apparently contain metal I went back through the gate to chuck everything back in my bag. Here I was thinking I had the most troubles getting through the checkpoint when I then found out Morgan hadn't gotten his bag back yet from the security personnel operating the x-ray machine.. Morgan had contraband... dun dun dun... turns out you apparently cant take scissors (which were hidden in a first aid kit) onto flights due to some weird safety regulations etc. etc. so that's 1 for Jamie and 1 for Morgan, as we were heading into the domestic departure lounge a security officer stopped Morgan and required a explosive residue test (2 for Morgans-san), we then headed through to the international departure lounge (and another checkpoint) and what do you know, Morgan (who we presumed must look very dodgy by this point) gets stopped again for another security check (ding ding ding we have a winner, 3 for Morgans-san).
The rest of the boarding was easy and we boarded our Airbus 330 from Jet Star and took our seats which apparently the two seats next to me were vacant and the other was occupied by our friend with the double bass from earlier in the day. The next 9 hours were a haze of card games, reading, sleep (kinda), watching my DSLR tutorial video and listening to Pimsleur Japanese 1, until finally the shake and rumble of the landing gears being lowered caused the flutter of excitement deep down... we were here.

Now I know people occasionally think Morgan is 'weird', but yikes, security had it in for you that day, three times? Record beates een those usual fliers of my family.
