So here we are back in Osaka again (hello cheap accommodation), time for some daytripping...
Osaka harbour to visit the aquarium - 9 floors of fishy entertainment from whale sharks to otters to clown fish. Conveniently next to the ferris wheel.
Kiso valley - beautiful old postal towns on the route from Kyoto to Edo (Tokyo). This is as rural as it gets in Japan (the power lines are actuallz obscured by trees)
Asuka - more tranquil rural life (convenience stores only on every second corner here). Home to ancient burial mounds and curious legends.
Matsumoto - home to the wasabi farm!! yes, wasabi icecream is overrated (think unspicy radish flavour). Also the oldest castle in Japan and the coldest weather encountered so far.
