Obviously a visit to Hiroshima is not complete without a visit to the disturbing A bomb museum and memorial.
Looking for something more peaceful, the following day we visited the nearby island of Miyajima. Home to the most photographed sight in Japan - the floating Otori gate - it also seems to be home to the most amateur photographers with tripods in Japan. We also trekked uphill through lovely forest for a view out over the ocean and surrounding islands.
Thanks to Mario´s language skills, we spend the evening in Hiroshima eating a vegetarian version of the local Okonomiyaki (noodles and cabbage pancake), followed up with a Japanese games arcade ´experience´.
