This time around, Buenos Aires seems a lot nicer. Guess the lack of jetlag helps and staying right in the middle of the historic part of town doesn't hurt either. The shop next door sells wine (considering that every second shop sells wine, this is no major achievement) and there is a convenient pretty plaza nearby to sit in (our hostel has a you-must-buy-our-overpriced-crap-beer policy).
When not lazing around drinking malbec, we checked out the reserva ecologica, a huge park in the trendy part of town. We also discovered why the beach is not an attraction, brown rocky choppy and vile smelling. The art gallery was a highlight, complete with a Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Jackson Pollock. I spent quite a while trying and failing to understand the significance of an exhibit of row upon row of wrinkly potatoes stuck with electrodes and hooked up to an ammeter.
Bevan has developed a rather concerning habit of street drinking at all available opportunities... oh well, I better have another alfajor (a creation involving biscuit, caramel and chocolate).
