Arrival. Smooth. Suave.

Word of the Day!

En Espanol: Aaron... Pronounced- Ahhh-rone

English: Aaron... Pronounced- Ahr-on

I figured I'd start with my own name as the word of the day, because I didn't even know how to say it correctly here. Don't worry, a tenacious little nun quickly told me how as I tried to introduce myself. Well, this is an adjustment. A little pride cometh before a little fall...

So, after a few days spent at a beautiful and comfortable convent, I got to go home to my new family! On my first day at home, we decide to go down town for a "parade". After some fantastic sights and sounds, I found myself wandering along side my host mom and sister on the sloping streets of downtown. And then, what do you know? A parade of mimes coming down the sidewalk. Do they keep walking? No, of course not. Why would they, when there is a tall white guy, with yellow hair and blue eyes awkwardly standing over them. The head mime, or the alpha mime as it were, gives me a mime wave and so I return the gesture. He shows me his camera and the points to his mime friends and then to me. I oblige, and take a picture with them. He then hands me the camera and points to his group so that I can take a picture of them. I of course, turn the camera around and take a picture of myself. I bump some mime fists, and we part ways.

I am a mime. I don't need makeup, and I can't speak other than with my hands.  I catch a lot of funny looks as I stand out quite a bit. I am the real deal.

I'd like to think that I've made some kind of mime archive or photo album somewhere in Mexico. At the very least I'll always remember them, and I think I'm starting to figure out what it's like to be the new guy in town.

Life is good.
