28 July. Awoke this morning to rain, well we are in Manchester! We drove to Skipton a nice Yorkshire rural market town, had lunch at "The Bull" at Broughton, walked around Skipton got some good pics of the Freddy Truman (1931-2006) statue. We then drove onto Grassington had a little walk around bought a sheep's horn walking stick £24, then drove onto "The Tempest" pub at Elsack for dinner
29 July.Surprise! raining again this morning, had breakfast watched some Olympics, the weather cleared to a watery sunshine; then went to cricket at 2-30, by then the weather looks a lot brighter, Anthony's team Monton Weaste are playing Ashton C.C. Monton batting first made 177 for 1 dec batting only 25 overs of a 35 over game, which was delayed by a wet outfield; Ashton never looked like it, all out for 54. had some beers and enjoyed the sunshine and company. The girls came to pick us up at 7-00 home by 7-45.
30 July Awoke at 6am the weather again grey and overcast with light rain. As was the case yesterday, as the morning has gone on the day has got brighter. Went to the Trafford centre bought a sun hat £19.50 ( I'm optimistic) & filled up with diesel 29.01 lt cost £40 (odometer 634.2miles)Finally got hold of John B re our tickets for 40 over game Gloucester v Lancashire; then Carol drove us to Old Trafford after picking up Philip(her bro n law)in Salford. We missed the first hour of the game which was played under clear blue sky, but by 7-30 it was bloody cold. The beer which was also cold was £3.40 a pint! Lancashire won the game batting second, Glous 184 Lancs 185 with 5 balls to spare. Met Braces after the game for a quick chat; but it was late by this time 10-45, home by 11-15.
