Wowsers! what an awesome weekend :)
Thumbs up to Croatia and Crazy Kristina.
My beautiful journey started with a flight with Adria airways to Ljubljana. Had to stand in the check in line for 2.5 hours at Gatwick airport. he he he. My Balkan adventure consisted of many late trains, buses and passport stops on trains. However the plane ride to Ljubljana was enhanced by the built balkan man named alexander who did not know much english. He was very chatty - and told me all about his family, his past, his macedonian, greek, serbian background. He then asked me about Australia etc - and then told me that "you have not plastic faces".....huh?....."I means your face not plastic...not fake...you have nice smiles"...he he he...."are you sure you are not Balkan woman??" he he he - funny man. even funnier use of the english language.
View from the plane landing in Ljubljana was to die for!!! snow capped mountains surrounded by swirling mist/clouds/forests. Amazing!
another hour on a bus to the train station, then on to Croatia and Kristina. The numerous passport checks on the train were a little unnerving as a few people from my cabin were asked to step outside and have their bags searched. May have been ok - but these Policija had massive guns! lucky i just smiled sweetly and had an Australian passport.
Arrived in Zagreb to a chilly -5 and found Kristina on the platform. We then walked through Zagreb to the upper part of town to Fran's Reef for some gorgeous food and catching up.

Saturday was spent in cafes, looking around town at the sights, eating at nice restaurants, eating gorgeous cakes, and finishing up at the BP Club for some wicked jazz piano/xmas carols jazzed up and fun with Kristina & Vjeko (http://www.bpclub.hr/ and http://www.matijadedic.com/). Best weekend in forever!!!!!
Do you have a round face that needs slapping? Clear the cobwebs? Childrens and Sheeps? Da...Ne..Hvala....what funs!!

he he e...getting out of Ljubljana was a bit of a pain again with buses to the airport only every 2 hours. So i decided to step into a death taxi! This dude knew no english - and proceeded to talk on his phone the whole way whilst driving 180km/hr down the motorway. eeeeks. at least it was a Merc. Another wait for a late plane - and back to home sweet Gatwick.

P.S. Freakin freezing!! But was so excited by the snow falling on Sat night, and the snow covering the roofs, trees and cars :) heee he he he.....fabulous weekend!
