Hi!!
Today we started on our last safari trip. No big cats in this park, but lots of elephants, Rhino, giraffe, etc.
This is just a one night stay in an open hut, i.e. no windows or doors, not even in the bathroom.
We had 2 game drives today. On the first, we were surrounded by elephants. Actually, there were 3 tour groups there at the same time. Two of us were surrounded and the other group (French people) were scared to death. One of the elephants kept charging at their jeep. It was raining so there was a lot of mud and they were kind of stuck. I have some great pictures of how the group was reacting. We were in a jeep a few feet away and we had two elephants come close enough for us to touch them. It was quite exciting.
Then, on the afternoon drive, we heard the elephants in the distance trumpeting again. So, our drive took off to find them. As we came close, we saw a hippo come running out of the bush (I guess it's very rare to see them out of the water) being chased by 3 elephants who were very mad. It was quite fun.
We spent a sleepless night because of the rain and bugs. The drive the next morning had no excitement except for slipping and sliding in the mud.
That's about it for now. We head back to Jo'burg on the 8th for a couple of days of rest. I think we can both use it. I think Aaron is a little bored with all the driving. We've both seen about as much of the animals as we care to. We will enjoy some days with my friends and their dog and then head off to London for 2 days. We are ready to be home and back to a normal routine!!!
Take care,
Lori and Aaron
