well what a day we've had. we woke in san fran to a heavy fog so the things we wanted to do we couldn't see! we found Lombard street and so did the windy road thing. we made our way to under the G/Gate Bridge and walked to the beginning of the bridge but we could barely see it-all you could hear was foghorns! so we left san fran and headed south. we got off the freeway for a coffee and found this place called saratoga. it is the most beautiful place and all the scenery all the way down the coast was just stunning.
before we forget........answers to the quiz 1) johnny cash sang the songs with jackson and folsom in them...2)creedence clearwater revival sang a song with Lido in it and ...3) ELO had an album titled El Dorado so no 100% to any of you but at least we know none of you cheated!!!
anyway back to the days events.....we went through Monterey and the 17 mile drive and stopped in at carmel for lunch. when we come back we will have a week just to really see these places. so onto san Lius Obispo but the road was so windy(but spectacular) we didn't quite make it. hence our stop in Cayucos. it is just about 1/2 way between San Fran and LA and very beautiful. the weather is really warm, high 20's with very low humidity. so tomorrow we head for LA-hollywood to be exact.it will be another full day of driving. just before this place, we saw sea lions on the beach, heaps of them. and the seals on pier 39 well that was something else! 100's of them all trying to get on not enough pontoons. we had a lovely 1 hour Bay cruise by the way, the fog had lifted by then so we had a good view of everything(that was yesterday as we were too late for Sauslito). i seem to be drifting in and out of days but as i write i think of things we did. so last night we were shopping for shoes at 10 at night (in San Fran). as i said last blog that the pres was in town, well we got caught up in the big protest that was outside his hotel so that was interesting!!! no pics again this time sorry but were off to bed to prepare for our next big adventure. bye all carol and kev x

17 mile drive
What did you think of some of those houses (or were they just some rich peoples shacks) along the 17 Mile Drive?
A lot of money up that way.
Have to agree, was a beautiful drive down that way.
Glad you got to see some Sea Lions too, aren't they noisy?
I think you need a holiday!!
I dont think you're going to have a problem sleeping on the plane on the way back. BUSY!!! Sounds a nice spot where you stopped at Cayucos Beach. Hope you have time for Universal and Walk of fame - and more shopping in LA. Never saw the fog in San Fran - bet it was amazing. Was watching golf this morning on TV from Vegas - its still 86!!
Enjoy and drive safely - hope whats her name is doing her job properly..
