San Rafael - San Juan de Jachal

Miles - 348

Up at 6.30, breakfast, catching up with some typing while the tyres on the bike get changed.

Just heard one of the bolts was missing on the wheel, luckily it didn't fall off!

Ahhh life on the open road, there is nothing like it! I could easily take a leaf out of the littlest Hobo's book and just keep moving on... (Just not at this pace).

It is much warmer now, just a t shirt and jacket. The ride to Mendoza was nice, it continued to be lovely countryside once we left the busy town where we had been staying. Old 1960's trucks driving around everywhere filled to the brim with black and green grapes. Fruit sellers on the roadsides with colourful fare in really nice towns with school kids everywhere.

We had been told to go through the centre of Mendoza and out of the other side but once we reached the outskirts, San Juan de Jachal was sign posted so we managed to avoid the busy centre of Mendoza.

We are now on our way to San Juan and have just stopped for lunch (215 miles done). Had a queso sandwich and took all the queso out as it looked a bit sweaty.

We arrived at the Hotel Plaza at about 6.45pm, not too bad for a 1 star hotel. Got showered and changed and Rich and Martin turned up about 8pm. They had checked into the wrong hotel in the wrong town! They got as far as San Juan and found a Plaza Hotel (rather than Hotel Plaza) and were in their room just about to have a shower (not together I don't think?) when it dawned on them that there were no other bikes there... So funny!!

Barry and Jo were stopped by a policeman for over taking where there was a double yellow line, usual scam...he was going to take their driving licenses unless they paid a 1500 peso bribe, they got him down to 750 pesos (about 150), very dodgy police out here.

The restaurants here don't open until 10pm! So we had a long wait to eat. Was nice to relax and have a laugh with (at) Rich and Martin though.

Bed at 11.30, I'm turning into a dirty stop out.
