On our return to Wellington we spent 2 days relaxing after our action packed fortnight before heading to a 'bach' a term used by Kiwis for a second home, overlooking Waikawa Beach for the weekend. Our bach was a gorgeous home at the foot of a colder sac with views from 6 patio windows overlooking the sea and Kapiti Island and it had a fabulous log wood fire. We had beautiful winter weather at the beach house where we enjoyed a long beach stroll followed by a stunning sunset, good company, lots of wine and a hearty roast dinner.

From here we had 5 days to enjoy some of the highlights of the North Island on route to Auckland. For this leg we rented a car for a great price of £13 per day. We were thrilled to learn it was a Nissan Sunny when we went to pick it up!
