Caused a fight yesterday at the taxi rank as none of the drivers wanted a measly £7 fare to take us and our luggage the short distance to Leigh's. Eventually one of them took pity on us thankfully as it is quite a hike from Clapham Junction station. We negotiated several train changes from Kings Cross so we think we are getting the hang of the London underground and overground system.
Took the train to Kew Gardens and walked for 5 hours around 40 acres of inspiring landscapes – a 5 zone climate greenhouse from temperate to tropical complete with butterfly and orchid house then a desert of cacti species. We climbed to the treetops for the canopy walk and strolled along the lotus lake with huge lily pads as big as a plough disc. Later we discovered the massive rock garden and waterfall as well as the student vege patch so Michael now has even more plans for 27 Devereux Rd where his little cottage garden is a delight to explore with a great variety of delicate blooms.
Arrived home exhausted - again!
