Show trip route
Monday, May 13th, 2002 - Moving west to Manchester, England, we traveled slowly along through the rain to Dawn's cousin, Cathryn's, house. Went to curry row in Manchester for Indian food that night.
Tuesday, May 14th, 2002 - Visited Chatsworth, a baroque style palace in the country, which is known for the incredible house and gardens, because Dawn has good memories of it from going there a lot as a child
Wednesday, May 15th, 2002 - Went into Manchester to the Royal Exchange Theatre to see American Buffalo by American playwright David Mamet. The theater was a really cool nouveau style with 360 degree seating. Check it out at www.theroyalexchangetheatre.com
The play was good, but not great (the theatre in London was much better). Continued our travels down to southern England to Swindon to visit Dawn's other side of the family.
Thursday, May 16th, 2002 - Had incredible weather today and it was the first and only day that Marcus could wear shorts. Traveled nearby to the Cotswold, known for its quaint villages and picturesque countryside. Went to Bibury where there is a trout farm and Arlington Row (a group of houses from the 13th century). Went on to Bourton-on-Water for clotted cream and tea. Last, went to Dawn's favorite small village called Castle Combe, which is basically one street of very old houses. Had dinner with the family and then went with my cousin, Debbie, to the local pub for some drinks.
