Today's entry is going to be short compared to my previous days. That is because I spent 7 hours on buses and trains making my way north from Keswick to Inverness.

I left Keswick at 10:20 this morning and arrived in Inverness about 17:30. It was a long, tiring day of travel but it was worth it to be greeted by beautiful sunshine in the Scottish Highlands.

Upon arrival I checked into my B&B and ate a picnic dinner in my toom, which I had purchased at the supermarket this morning. I then relaxed until just after 20:00.

At 20:00 I headed to a bar called Hootananny. I had read in various sources and was told by my B&B host that it was a good place to hear traditional music. They were all correct.

As I walked to the bar I was surprised that the sun was still so high in the sky. I then realized I was farther north then I have ever been and the sun sets later up here. Tonight it sunset was just before 21:00, and I was told in summer the sun is still up after 22:00.

The music didn't start until 21:30, but I was advised to arrive early if I wanted a seat. It was sound advice. While I waited for the music to start a mom and daughter from Maryland sat down next to me. Shortly after we were joined by four Scots.

We discussed our various travels and various other things. That is one of the things i love most about traveling solo. I get to meet people I probably never would have met had I been traveling with another person. Everyone I have encountered so far has been so kind and gracious and this group was no exception.

One of the Scottish gentleman, bought us all a round of drinks and gave me advice on what I should see in the area. I also explained my career goals and they all wished me much success.

I stayed at the bar until 23:00, but then decided to call it a night as the crowd was starting to get younger and younger and more routy. I had also been told the music usually ends around 21:30, so I knew I wouldn't be missing too much.

I am not quite sure what I am going to do tomorrow, as it is Sunday and I am not sure what tours are available. The weather is supposed to be sunny so if nothing else I will walk around the city.
