Flew into Dortmund, arriving tired and disoriented without much of a plan. We've just spent the past few weeks hiking the Scottish Highlands so we're pretty exhausted. It wasn't long before we headed north to Bucholz and found a family campground to to rest for a few days.
Everyone seemed surprised that we came such a long way from Canada and that my last name has a german meaning. We learned a little more german than before we arrived but the vocabulary intake is much slower than I anticipated. There was a pond (lake-ish water) with ducks and I went swimming once. We played a lot of chess and some guitar, etc. Went to the local shops (three bakeries and a cafe) and bought many kinds of würst.
Mostly it rained though which was actually okay because I slept many hours more than I thought I could. I regained a lot of strength and health.
