As a a local, it bothers me to have to pay admission fees to a nearby beach. For a few hours, I find 13 dollars to be too expensive. I'd rather sneak in and run the risk of a thirty dollar ticket for 'not properly displaying' my permit.
On the other hand, this provincial park has the most beautiful soft brown sand in the area and the water is crystal blue on sunny days. When the wind is high, the waves can crash into land from heights that are over our heads.  There are simple Zebra Mussel shells along the shore, which Senica believes will one day powderize to make the Sandbanks all white sand.  So for these reasons, and that I always enjoy myself so much when I go, I would say the price is worth it.
From Kingston, the drive can take you west on the 401 and then through the Native Reservation where you can buy cheap tobacco and cheap gas before driving over a very tall bridge called the Skyway. Alternatively, the drive could follow Bath Road out into corn and strawberry land, along Lake Ontario to the Glenora Ferry. It makes for a nice journey, and a nice destination.

We have received the $30 parking ticket when we were honest and paid to enter the park. You will get a ticket for any reason they can find. Such as not being parked the way they see is proper or if they deem that they can not read your entrance tab well enough.
We have received the $30 ticket twice now. Maybe because we went there a lot and the odds are greater.
They will never receive our entrance payment again as we will never set foot on a Picton area provincial park again.

I know, the extreme entrance fee it a real downside of the
Ontario Parks. It's much better to go as a group and everyone
can share the cost. Normally we just go to the beach but we
recently checked out the Sandbank Dunes and they were
awesome.
