We began biking at 9am that morning and the entire terrain was hills!  I am by no means an experienced biker and have in fact not been exercising much at all for the past eight months.  This excursion was a bit of a Damn-the-desk-job adventure.  It took us almost eight hours to climb out of the Trent Hills into the valley of Peterborough, sometimes there were hills upon hillls but I"m proud to say we persevered.
We arrived in Peterborough complete exhausted! This is the 'brother city' of Kingston but I was only concerned in finding our campsite. The TransCanada Trail runs right throught the lock station where we camped. I was asleep before the sun set.
In the morning the weather was greay.  We packed up our bikes and cycled down along the waterway to see the Lift Lock in operation.  This is a systemt that looks like a big water teetertotter, some ingenius way to raise boats over tall rapids. As it began to rain harder we decided we couldn't wait any longer and se we pedaled on in the rain hoping for a flat trail. The city looked lovely, despite the rain, right along a big body of water with lots of cafes and patios.
