It is very satisfying to arrive at the Rocky Mountain destination on Canada Day, after journeying for four days across the country. The mountains here are impressive. There are two in my backyard (Little Kidd and Big Kidd). The village where I live has a population of about 500, all staff that work at the golf course or the hotels. Most people are between the ages of 19 and 21 and from all over Canada. I have met mostly people from Ontario, Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan. The closest city, Canemore, is a forty minute drive away. There is lots of wildlife here from grey and black and blue birds I've never seen to elk and moose and deer and bears and coyotes. Sometimes at dusk I hear screaming out in the woods, some animal is being eaten- it is a gruesome sound but proof that the wilderness is all around me.
