Today we drove off our map and although we have a pocket size atlas from the 1960s, we are essentially travelling without knowing for sure where we are. Still though, we know which direction we want to go and that's all we really need. It's like cooking without a recipe!!
We had a beautiful drive through Pairs (not as inspiring as France) and then from Tennessee into Kentuky through a state park called Land Between the Lakes.  Driving a winding road between Kentucky Lake that runs into the mighty Tennessee River and Barkley Lake was lovely. There were lots of hills and forrests, we saw some bison and lots of birds.  There, we hit an interstate and started running north into Indiana½ a very nice looking state. It was peaceful to watch the scenery change slowly as we covered miles and miles of land.  Around dusk we must have took a wrong turn because we were hoping to end up at Fort Wayne, Michigan but found ourselves driving into Ohio and then veering North towards Detroit. That`s okay, we decided where we`re going, the road has decided how we`re going to get there.
We think we will come back to Indianapolis, Nashville, and Memphis again for sure, but maybe not with a car full of luggage and animals- we`d like to fly in and spend a good amount of time taking in the cityscapes, but that`s for another trip...
