A lovely day for a sleigh ride.  The sun was shining and our temperatures were hovering around -2*C.  The weather, landscape, and company made this sledding adventure different from our excursion in Gjoa Haven.  This ride started out with some quick hills which made things exciting, then me, my friend, and the Japanese tourist from Tokyo we got paired with settled in for a relaxing ride in the snow along the shores of Grace Lake. The ride took about half an hour, finishing of with a few rollercoaster hills at the end.  At the same time, the Diavik Dog Sled Racing Derby was going on across the frozen lakes west of Yellowknife.  Our driver had some interesting stories about the dogs and his father who were racing in the Derby.  The perfect weekend to travel by dog team.
