We arrived in Moose Jaw safe and sound, but very tired - today was a long drive!  We travelled almost 800 km from north of Winnipeg, down through the rain and back onto the TransCanada Highway through Portage La Prairie, Elkhorn, Qu'Appelle, Indian Head, and onwards to Regina.

It was a pleasant drive; the prairies are beautiful to me, colourful fields of canola yellow, flax blue, and corn stalk green are anything but monotonous scenery or boring landscape.  Still though, four days in a car is exhausting.  We checked into the Prairie Oasis with just enough energy left to try the hotel's super swirly water slide and a swim in the heated pool - feels so good to swim after sitting in a hot car for hours!

We stopped in the capital, what a nice place it was!! We saw the amazingly beautiful provincial legislative building, witnessed a wedding taking place in the park, walked under a tree canopy of Elms, and had an awesome dinner at the 'Fireside bistro' just down the road from the legislative gardens.

The next morning it was raining mooses and jaws. We ventured out for breakfast before retiring for a midmorning nap. Starting to feel a bit tired honestly, we are still motivated for the journey but our muscles are a bit cramped and our eyes are tired from keeping constant lookout for traffic and potential deer or other animals.  We took it easy today, spent some time downtown

Moose Jaw and did an 'out of the rain' tour in the underground tunnels where we heard the story of Chinese immigrants who used to live and work here in the early 1900s.  Historic downtown Moose Jaw has really nice architecture, beautiful murals, trendy shops, and very tempting eateries. We had a late lunch at "Deja Vu Cafe', it specializes in chicken wings and is totally decorated in Elvis and Marilyn Monroe pictures.  Unfortunately, I could not remember the address of the house where my grandmother was born so I could not look up my family history here.
