A collection weird things I saw in nature that I have not seen before (see photos).  If anyone knows specific names or interesting animal/plant facts, please let me know!
Beyond the photos, we also caught glimpses of dolphins in the ocean. Also, from the shore my husband spotted whales. Before long, eveyrone was staring out at the waves and pointin at the mist from their blowspouts exhaling. They were explained by the staff as Humpback whales, travelling form Canada to give birth near Samana. We also saw their backs as they dove into the water, waving their tails behind them!
Asthe same time that we were all watching out on the water, I happened to look up into a tree and see the smallest little black hummingbird feeding on one of the flowers (picture below). Pretty neat to be looking at two things for the first time, the whales being so massive and the bird so miniature in comparison.

The fruit with the spots (yours was green) turns white when it is ripe. The spots are blackish-brown. It is called "tea" fruit by the locals and is yummy when boiled up and the liquid drunk with honey.

Wow, thanks for the info. Now I can't wait to go back and try
that tea recipe!
