A very quick glance at the Lonely Planet Guide for Domincan at the Toronto Airport yeilded info that Sosua was a seedy little sea-side town.
The great location of our resort let us walk out the front door and right into town. No problems. Just hassled sometimes by the vendors, begging us to stop into their shops.  If I went into every shop, I'd still be there! It got kind of annoying after a while to have women pressuring me to braid my hair.
Our resort offered a daily bike tour through the town.  I went on the tour with about five other Quebeckers.  Not too much of a tour really, no real highlights to speak of, it was over in about 45 minutes.  It was good to take in the daily sights of the Dominican village though, people walking, dogs barking, etc.  The streets were relatively quiet.
Taking a bus to and from Puerto Plata, I did capture some neat sights.  Too bad smells couldn't be recorded and shared.
