We just had our first local lamb and they gave us a super dessert b/c we're on our honeymoon. There were greenhouse grown strawberries in this yummy dessert. The owner of the guesthouse served us and said most of the produce comes from local greenhouses (what an ingenious idea, why doesn't everyone in Canada do that?) We drove past tons of greenhouses today, Senica was so intrigued. They are heated by the country's thermal water, it has a sulphur smell but is an undeniable golden resource. Again our meal was served with a sort of pink powder (something like salt mixed with Cayenne). We found out that this is called Kartoflu Klepp.
The whole restaurant (staff and patrons) were gathered around to watch something like European Idol. We chatted with a man, I'm sure he said his name was Jokull (another one, does that really mean Glacier? People name their kids Glacier?) Then we went for a walk around the town and could here periodic cheering throughout the evening. It seems Everyone in the town, and probably country, was glued to the TV for this Idol competition. We don't really care about it though, the sky is aglow behind the mountains and we are on top of the world. We have been so blessed with a warm and sunny day. Hopefully we'll have more like these - they are glorious!
