Thankfully we still have one more week in Iceland -we have seen so much in this one day!!
-A beautiful waterfall that we walked behind and watched rainbows emerge from the mist.
-Kilometre long shores stretching shallow waters in the sun to sparkle silver as they reach for the ocean.
-Farms and houses build into the cliff sides.
-Towering castles of rock formations crowing colourful and jagged peaks.
-Soft rolling green farmland hills.

Here we are in Vik. My feet are tingling from the salty cold waters of the North Atlantic and a black sand scrub. The waves were thundering and huge. How could Vikings ever face those waves in their wooden boats? There are amazing rocks erupting from eh ocean, a little distance off the shore. Black and craggy like shadowy tombs of icy ocean graveyard. (I drew a silhouette in my journal, it looks cool). We had never seen a black sand beach before. The grains war alike black glass and smooth pebbles. It is so sublime I can barely believe we are seeing this. That this is something my life is experiencing. Just, wow.
We just gobbled an oily lamb soup, floating with soft potatoes, carrots and turnip - an Icelandic speciality. Senica had fish and chips with Kartoflu Klepp. It would be awesome to keep coming back here, watching it change with time and weather conditions and light.

Later...
Kirkjubaejarklaustur - I just saw the turn off for Geirland!
